Richard Millard Richard Millard
Chairman & CEO

Richard Millard, Chairman and CEO of Tecton Hospitality, oversees the company's business development efforts and is Tecton's majority shareholder. Mr. Millard was born in London, and at the age of 17 came to the United States to explore the wealth of opportunities that America offered. Shortly after arriving in New York he began his career in hospitality, first as a mail and information clerk on the night shift at a prestigious hotel in Rockefeller Center. Over the years, Richard worked his way through the ranks of the industry, beginning as a bellman and car park attendant in a Key Biscayne hotel and elevating himself to the lead position of General Manager.

In 1984, Millard began working at Tecton Hospitality. Throughout the next decade, under Millard’s leadership, Tecton successfully managed over 150 hotels for the FDIC, FSLIC, RTC and various privately held banks, savings and loans and insurance companies. In 1995 Mr. Millard became the majority shareholder and President of what is today Tecton Hospitality.

Millard brings more than thirty years of experience in hotel operations to his position as Chairman of Tecton, and his start from the ground up gives him a unique appreciation and respect of the importance of every position in a hotel. Millard has proven his ability to understand and deliver successful results for owners and developers. He has earned a reputation in the industry for his affinity for providing in-depth analysis of hotel properties and creating profitable business and marketing plans as a hands-on operator.

Today, as Chairman and CEO, Millard focuses on strategic issues including financing the company’s growth plan and developing further strategic partnerships. The company continues to concentrate on resort and city center projects throughout the West and North into Canada. The future looks prosperous for Tecton and Desires as they forge ahead into the modern boutique hotel arena while maintaining a strong presence with franchised hotel operations.
Raul Leal Raul Leal
President & Partner

Raul Leal oversees Desires Hotels/Tecton Hospitality's day-to-day operations and financial performance. Mr. Leal is a career hotelier with a history of success in upscale hotel operations, development and design. In a career that spans over 20 years, he has held top General Management positions for Interstate Hotels, The Continental Companies, Lane Hotels and several independent properties.

He is credited with creating the operating infrastructure and thriving culture of Desires Hotels/Tecton Hospitality. Under his leadership, the company has established a reputation as a premier hotel management company, as evidenced by its "preferred management company" status and recognition from many of today's leading franchise companies. In 2005, he co-developed Desires Hotels within Tecton Hospitality, which currently manages some of the most sought-after boutique/lifestyle hotels in the world. Through his leadership, Tecton and Desires Hotels consistently achieve extraordinary profitability and high levels of associate and guest satisfaction. Mr. Leal serves on various design committees and is intimately involved in the design and branding process of all Desires Hotels, as well as creating strategic alliances that enhance profitability and brand equity. He has been actively involved in leading tourism development in Miami for the last 14 years through direct involvement with the Greater Miami Convention and Visitors Bureau.

Mr. Leal is a progressive and strategic leader with strong human resource skills. He is a dynamic public speaker and motivator, with the proven ability to build teams of personnel that work in unison toward achieving a common goal and building value for hotel owners. Mr. Leal has a BA in Hotel and Restaurant management.
Douglas Carrillo Douglas Carrillo
Senior Vice President of Sales & Marketing / Partner

Doug Carrillo has complete oversight responsibilities of sales, marketing, branding, and e-commerce strategies for Tecton Hospitality and Desires Hotels. Doug brings more than 20 years of experience to his position, and all within the hospitality industry.

From development through implementation of the multiple innovative strategies employed by Tecton and Desires, Doug has been integral to the two companies' dynamic sales and marketing culture. His contribution includes the co-development of the Desires Hotels brand, which Carrillo has helped grow from 4 to 15 modern boutique hotels in as little as 2 years. The Desires Hotel collection was developed to facilitate the growing popularity of boutique properties driven by consumer forces. Additionally, there was an opportunity to offer a unique management solution for hotel developers and owners who wanted to create their own signature vision. He was recently recognized by the Hospitality Sales & Marketing Association International (HSMAI) - Adrian Awards, which honors creative brilliance and best practices in hospitality, travel and tourism related marketing.

Prior to joining Tecton in 2001, Mr. Carrillo was the General Manager of the five-star Grand Bay Hotel in Coconut Grove Florida. He has also held the post of Revenue Management Director for Carnival Hotels & Casinos in Miami, and Director of Sales and Marketing for the Sheraton Biscayne Bay in Miami. Doug’s first position in hospitality was at the front desk at the Biscayne Bay Marriott in 1984. Three years after which in 1987, he graduated from The Florida International University School of Hospitality.

Mr. Carrillo was honored in 2009 as one of the "Top 25 Minds in Sales & Marketing" by the Hospitality Sales & Marketing Association International (HSMAI), is an active member of The Greater Miami Convention & Visitors Bureau, and serves as the Chairman of the Boutique Hotel Collection effort.
Dave MacRae Dave MacRae
Vice President of Finance

Dave MacRae has more than 19 years of experience in finance as it relates to the hospitality industry. Prior to joining Tecton Hospitality, Mr. MacRae was the Director of Finance and Area Controller at the 730-room Omni Resort at Champions Gate, FL, where he developed and managed a $200 million budget and led ownership through a $150 million property financing. Before this, he was the Area Controller at the Omni CNN Center in Atlanta, GA, where he directed the financial operations of six hotels and a $70 million budget.
Lisa Perez Lisa Perez, SPHR
Vice President of Human Resources

Lisa Perez oversees the human resource, recruitment, labor relations and training functions for the company. Before joining Tecton Hospitality, Ms. Perez was the Director of Human Resources at the Bonaventure Resort and Spa in Weston, FL, and the Director of Human Resources for the 1,200-room Fontainebleau Hilton Resort in Miami Beach, FL, where she was responsible for overseeing and implementing all aspects of human resources administration and labor relations. Prior to this, she was a Corporate Director of Human Resources for Bask Hotel Development Group, a company that includes seven hotels totaling 1,000 rooms and associates in remote locations based in Atlanta, GA. Earlier in her career, Ms. Perez was the Director of Recruitment & Succession Planning for Interstate Hotels Corporation in Pittsburgh, PA, and the Human Resource Director for the Fort Lauderdale Marriott North, among others. Ms. Perez is a member of the Society for Human Resources Management and holds an SPHR certification. She was also Vice President of South Florida Hospitality Human Resources Association.
